Bridge to Terabithia
Jesse Aarons trained all summer to become the fastest runner in school. So he's very upset when newcomer Leslie Burke outruns him and everyone else. Despite this and other differences including that she's rich, he's poor, she's a city girl, and he's a country boy the two become fast friends. Together they create Terabithia, a land of monsters, trolls, ogres, and giants where they rule as king and queen. From TMDB

Both delve into childhood imagination and grief, as the movie visualizes the creatures of Terabithia. 🌳🌉✍️ #filmsky #booksky

I also love those books, but words mean things, yall More people need to revisit their fiction, but Bridge to Terabithia, the acclaimed book and movie that reduced my 4th grade class to shambles for 15 mins is not obscure in this timeline.
unlabelledView post →All the promotion reminds me of the movie version of Bridge to Terabithia, which made it out to be some generic kid’s adventure story to the point I had no idea it was the book that I bawled my eyes out reading as a kid

So it's not really the first then, is it? > An exclusive poll for Newsweek conducted by Redfield and Wilton Strategies in July found that 34 percent of viewers disapproved of Disney's attempt to add more LGBTQ+ topics to its content. This I never understand. If Disney is a for profit company, why would they not listen to their majority? Aren't they leaving money on the table like…

When it tested poorly with audiences, the film was marketed as…

unlabelledView post →Amazing no one has mentioned Bridge to Terabithia (2007). The screenwriters disavowed the trailers, iirc. Looks like a cute kids fantasy movie, starts out leaning that way with a middle-school Manic Pixie Dream Girl, then turns **hard** into being completely real life and extremely tragic. 14-year old me was not prepared.

unlabelledView post →At this point I think I can say I've had three supremely major reactions to media. The first, was the first time I cried at a movie, probably a lot of people's firsts, at least around my age. Bridge to Terabithia, right in the theater, I was doing my best to hold back tears.

And I made him promise to watch Bridge to Terabithia (the movie) with me, after we watched the play at his school and it was hard for him to follow.

unlabelledView post →The article says it’s their first openly Christian character since the Bridge to Terabithia movie from 2007 They should’ve worded it like “Disney adds new openly Christian Character since Bridge to Terabithia” But that wouldn’t make bigots think Disney is “turning over a new leaf”
unlabelledView post →Man, ads for "Bicentennial Man" and "Bridge to Terabithia" were kind of misleading during their run. I saw both in theaters and well I found Bicentennial Man to be boring, unfortunately. As for Bridge...FUCKED ME UP! It was "My Girl" all over again! It was an ok movie, but the ads SO misleading!

unlabelledView post →Made the error of watching Bridge to Terabithia earlier. There is nothing like starting a Monday off with a protracted bout of ugly crying… Given the list of films etc that set me off, I have a hideously snotty inspiration for a film festival at The Mitchester.
unlabelledView post →I watched a *lot* of horror movies with my dad when I was entirely too young to be doing that. To this day, the scariest film scenes are either a) realism or b) inescapable evil scenery. As a kid, Bridge to Terabithia changed my childhood exploration habits significantly.
unlabelledView post →Idk if it counts, since it's probably just my memory of the strong emotion I felt at the time, rather than the objective quality of the scene ( I haven't watched the movie in over 10 years) but the moment the kid finds out *spoiler* in Bridge to Terabithia always gets me when I think about it.
