I don't think anyone in movies is having a better year than Richard Linklater.
unlabelledView post →"Blue Moon" was the last movie I watched for the Oscars and I gotta say, I would have campaigned hard for Andrew Scott as Best Supporting Actor
unlabelledView post →I know Blue Moon is solidly in “it’s an honor to be nominated” territory but that was one astounding fucking movie
unlabelledView post →Richard Linklater's Blue Moon, starring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Scott, will be released in theaters via Sony Pictures Classics. The film will open in Los Angeles and New York on October 17 and expand nationwide on October 24.
unlabelledView post →Blue Moon, second time seeing it, what a beautiful movie
unlabelledView post →Watched the most amazing film last night called "Blue Moon" about the great lyricist Lorenz Hart played by Ethan Hawke (His greatest role?) As a guy who has been obsessed with lyrics his whole life (and who can be quite critical other people's lyrics) I quite related to the film. Funny sad & wise RS
unlabelledView post →it preys on 2 of my biggest psychological vulnerabilities (movies about movies, weird little french guys) but i still think Nouvelle Vague was my favorite movie of 2025. between that and Blue Moon it was a banner year for linklater doing portraits of Genius Assholes I Don't Want To Hang With
unlabelledView post →Watched this movie the other night. It's great, and this review captures it beautifully. Has Ethan Hawke given the best movie performance (Blue Moon) and best TV series performance (The Lowdown) of the year? A strong case can be made.

unlabelledView post →Good morning, Bluesky. “To be a writer, you have to be a kind of omnisexual.” —Blue Moon— (I’m not saying that Richard Linklater made this movie just for me, but — I’m pretty sure Richard Linklater made this movie just for me. But the rest of y’all should enjoy it, too.)
unlabelledView post →Saw Blue Moon, thought “what a nice movie for adults under two hours that isn’t based on existing IP!” and yes, I am 80, why do you ask

unlabelledView post →from EB White's perspective Blue Moon is a movie about trying to write in a bar, being interrupted by an alcoholic 5'0" man in his late 40s in love with a smoking hot 20 year old NYU student, inadvertently getting an idea for a book about a mouse who drives a little car from him, then leaving
unlabelledView post →Blue Moon good movie! 90 minutes of Ethan Hawke being a weird little guy who is incapable of shutting up. i have no prior opinions on or knowledge of musical theatre but i now have an irrational hatred of the base and pandering Richard Rodgers
unlabelledView post →New today on the site! The Best of 2025 issue concludes with @frankfalisi.bsky.social on musical theater, My Funny Valentine, Ethan Hawke, Richard Linklater, Lorenz Hart, and BLUE MOON
unlabelledView post →as someone who has studied his career extensively, this is because he is a character actor who also happens to be a movie star, so his two other acting nominations are in supporting performances (Training Day, Boyhood). His role in BLUE MOON is very much a character actor performance.
unlabelledView post →BLUE MOON knocked me out. I went in expecting a great Hawke performance, but the whole movie floored me. It’s achingly bittersweet and knows how to cut to the heart of writing as an artform. Seek it out.

unlabelledView post →A more fun game than “X was robbed” is “which film got overlooked that would have killed in a previous cycle”. I think “Blue Moon” is an absolute Oscar sensation in the late 2000s, early 2010s.
unlabelledView post →BLUE MOON (2025) yeah it’s a series of midcentury theatre references yes it’s basically a play but I cannot fault a movie that contains a Captain Renault/Rick Blaine shipper
unlabelledView post →Blue Moon is a gorgeous film. Best thing I've seen Ethan Hawke do, probably. It's daring - almost a filmed play - but dynamic. A smart, sad, funny, & absolutely timely look at real artists & what they're up against.

unlabelledView post →In film, Blue Moon, lyricist Lorenz Hart, meets E.B. White author in Sardi's lounge. White discusses the power of language and Hart laments the obstacles in turning raw emotion into lyrics due to his vulnerabilities. Art forms touch the human soul and unite. #5amwritersclub #WritingCommunity
unlabelledView post →BLUE MOON (2025, Linklater, ****) A delightful movie about discovering that you’ve grown old and irrelevant, drank too much, no longer understand what the audience wants and you’re never gonna have sex with Margaret Qualley. It resonated with me for several reasons. #IFFBoston

It should inspire us all. And pls memorize Sonnet 29, as he made us.

unlabelledView post →It is the crossing paths of Broadway royalty Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart that are at the crux of Richard Linklater's latest film, "Blue Moon." But unlike the pair they are portraying, Ethan Hawke says he and Andrew Scott came to the roles without any backstory of their own.

unlabelledView post →Richard Linklater naver makes a dull film, Blue Moon sees him re-team with Ethan Hawke from his Before Sunrise trilogy. Shot in 15 days in Dublin, it's an acerbic portrait of Larry Hart, the lyricist whose creative partnership with Richard Rodgers ends abruptly.4/5 film-authority.com/2026/01/05/b...

I bought a roll of Minox sized film from Blue Moon Camera to test & I have a Minox size developing tank. The cost of the film is prohibitive so this is likely a one & done test. I do have a battery on order for the flash

unlabelledView post →"The fallout of BLUE MOON is an assertive, pile-driving movie star performance from Ethan Hawke, but most compelling is how Richard Linklater and his collaborators have rendered this occasion to tell about a life—even a night’s life—in the terms one uses to speak about art itself."
