Film is about visuals and sound, after all, and because Blue doesn't utilize its medium to its full potential, it's a failure, unlike, say, Mission Impossible III. Jarman is not doing the work.

Movies I’m curious about & would not need to spend extra money for (AMC pass): SHEEP DETECTIVES and OBSESSION. Movie that I want to see & would pay a discounted ticket price for (IFC membership): BLUE FILM. Leaning toward WIZARD.

neutral · AI labelView post →BLUE FILM: among other things, great movie about having a really long & confusing night and getting a little fucked up before finally having sex that’s kind of just weird and mid. Shockingly campy at times (good!). A worse movie wouldn’t want you to think parts of it are kind of hot.

unlabelledView post →Just saw Blue Film with a friend and on the way out he said he thought the movie tried to humanize the pedophile too much and I said “but they are all human. That’s part of the problem.” In a world where the discourse around them is dominated by “kill all pedos” this is a conversation much needed.

Blue Film (2025) is a great and VERY interesting experience that’s best described as “Mysterious Skin coded”. A unique film about VERY broken queers that is shocking and ballsy, and you may hate its disturbance.
