Many viewers find the film entertaining but note it is not the strongest MCU entry. [1][2][3] Some praise the action and effects, while others feel the plot is messy or derivative. [4][5][6] Several posters appreciate character moments, especially for Hawkeye and Captain America. [7][8][9]

A long form review originally posted in 2015: I’ve just returned from two back-to-back viewings of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I do not regret one bit going in for that second helping. I lost my steam on the Age of Ultron wagon at a very inopportune moment. About three days before it came out. I was so heavily anticipating it for such a long time, that I was actually much more excited to see this movie when it was …

This is not a bad follow up to the first film. "Stark" (Robert Downey Jnr.) and "Banner/Hulk" (Mark Ruffalo) have a grand design to create a computer programme that will ensure peace on Earth for ever. Snag is, that programme hoodwinks "Jarvis" as well as both of them and turns into the rather menacing James Spader iteration of "Ultron" (yes, I too thought that was a detergent!). Anyway, "Ultron" concludes, not …

Third viewing of this and while not the strongest within the MCU, or of the other Avenger movies, still has some good parts (introduction to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany's Vision; further setting into motion the infinity stones, New Avengers, etc) while the plot as a whole felt messy at times. Still, found it entertaining especially seeing where the MCU was going since. 3.5/5

Cool seeing them all together again, even if I didn't massively enjoy it. It's good, nothing more or less in my opinion. 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' isn't too far off 2012's 'The Avengers', especially in terms of how I fell about it. I definitely wanted more from both, yet they are still satisfying superhero action flicks. I'd rank this narrowly below the aforementioned. Robert Downey Jr. felt a little flat to me as …

I'm glad to see that they found another role for Hawkeye other than being that one guy who seemed to be trying hard to keep up with the other more powerful heroes on the team. Now he's more of like the thing that keeps the team together and it suits his character well.
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 261 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 10, 2026. Method
Critics, per Wikipedia
Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed $459 million in the United States and Canada, and $943.8 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.403 billion, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing film at the time and the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2015. Avengers: Age of Ultron's worldwide opening of $392.5 million was the seventh-largest ever. The film set a worldwide IMAX opening-weekend record with $25.2 million (previously held by The Dark Knight Rises (2012)) and also broke the record for the fastest movie to make over $40 million in IMAX theaters, doing so in 12 days. According to some analysts, the opening weekend box office gross was lower than expected because of the weekend's…
