For the dozen of us who loved 2003's Slings and Arrows, it's a show that resonates.

unlabelledView post →There’s a show now streaming on Amazon called American Classic that I highly reccommend. Kevin Kline and Laura Linney star. Both those folks are worth watching in anything. Comedy about theater- very sweet and quite funny.

unlabelledView post →Last month I got Prime so I could watch Ride or Die (twice), S2 of Deadloch, and then stumbled upon a gem in American Classic, starring Kevin Kline, Laura Linney, and Jon Tenney. A disgraced actor returns to his home town to direct an amateur production of Our Town and hilarity ensues.
unlabelledView post →American Classic. One of the creators is Bob Martin, who co-wrote and co-created the Canadian show Slings & Arrows, which was great.
unlabelledView post →people (well, Bob Martin at least) did this year's American Classic a show that, especially given its cast, frustrated and annoyed me to no end. There's also a FASCINATING HBO pilot from John Logan, The Miraculous Year, centred around a figure who was a mix of Sondheim and Fosse--rumour was

unlabelledView post →American Classic knows Slings and Arrows trick of building to a final episode that's mostly straight up chunks of the play the series has been about rehearsing, but that's become about the characters who were working on it. And you cry and cry.

unlabelledView post →I did. Watched a few good shows on there. Highly recommend American Classic starring Kevin Kline, Laura Linney, and Jon Tenney. Also highly recommend their Robin Hood series starring Sean Bean as the Sherrif Of Nottingham.
unlabelledView post →For the first 15 mins or so the wife and I were thinking American Classic was over acted twaddle, but we hung in there and I'm so glad we did as this is a slow burning charmer of a show.

unlabelledView post →Anyway I’m not saying American Classic is bad, it’s just not as good as I wanted it to be and suffers from being very similar to a much better show! Takes bow. Curtain down.
unlabelledView post →"American Classic" is nothing too profound, but it is a comfortable watch with a great cast, including Kevin Kline and Laura Linney. Another show on a network many probably never even heard of. If nothing else, they provide opportunities for actors to get work.

Well directed, well acted, and even pretty strong direction during the third act climax and thesis of the show. Really solid production. Glad I saw it.
