How many of us fell in love with history because a movie (or book) sparked our curiosity first? For me, it was Amadeus - it sent me down an 18thC rabbit hole.
positive · AI labelView post →i stumbled upon this accidentally but the tumblr fandom for Amadeus (1984) is absolutely popping OFF right now and i love it. it's a great movie and the toxic yaoi people are drawing is uniformly excellent
positive · AI labelView post →Bowie was considered for the lead role in the film of Amadeus. A rather different film, I imagine that would have been
neutral · AI labelView post →Trying not to write an 8 million word review (lol) of the 4K restoration of AMADEUS, a film I've loved for 40 years. Blu-ray review coming soon! Spoiler: Mozart was a punk rocker before there was punk rock. I love this movie with my whole heart. 🎥 #filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →#FilmHistory On this day, 1984, AMADEUS, Miloš Forman’s magnificent, visually stunning telling of genius, jealousy, obsession & the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was released. The film received 11 Academy Award nominations & won 8, including Best Picture. 40 years later, still a masterpiece.

neutral · AI labelView post →mozart, as depicted in the film AMADEUS, has powerful nermal energy. garfield is salieri and jon is emperor joseph. i am not a crackpot
neutral · AI labelView post →I have now watched a BookTok video in which the Booktokker complains the book she is reading has too many words & all I can think of is the movie Amadeus.
neutral · AI labelView post →I think that it is completely valid to make historically set movies that aren't historical. A Knights Tale? That's my shit. Amadeus? My fav film. What's weird is to pretend it is historical and then get mad and say "you weren't there". The Chad answer to "that didn't happen" is "Haha yea" imo.
positive · AI labelView post →The film Amadeus came out in 1984, 228 years after the birth of its subject. If it were made today, it would be about Franz Schubert.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just watched Amadeus (1984) for the first time in probably two decades. Astonishing film. Looks incredible, performances are all-timers, it’s funny and affecting and makes great use of Mozart’s music. Feels remarkably contemporary, like it could be made today with almost no changes.
positive · AI labelView post →I saw a local production of "Amadeus" whose Salieri was cast so inappropriately young he looked like a child playing dressup in his father's clothes and whose Mozart delivered his manic episodes with such vigor audience members were catching spittle from the 3rd row and it was better than the movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Btw if you have many millions of dollars and want to make a movie that’s like Amadeus but about Al Smith and his protege-turned-nemesis FDR, email in bio
neutral · AI labelView post →Wild week 🎞️ If you liked The Favourite, The Draughtsman’s Contract, or Amadeus, this one is for you. 🎞️ It really is about the performances. 🎞️ A medical-horror flick with solid practical effects. 🎞️ Holy sunspots! I kind of love this film. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched #filmsky
neutral · AI labelView post →The year is 2026 and I just watched Amadeus the 1984 movie and oh my fucking god that’s a good film isn’t it
positive · AI labelView post →Happy 40th birthday, Amadeus! I revisit this fabulously frisky Mozart film, which has an intoxicating punch-drunk spirit. It’s about dealing with greatness when it’s not your own
positive · AI labelView post →That round building is the "Narrenturm" or "tower of fools". Up until the 1960s the mentally ill were locked up there. You could even buy Tickets to look and throw peanuts at them. Parts of the movie Amadeus are set in this building.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just saw "Amadeus" for the first time (thanks MoMA) and it is indeed a masterpiece. One thing I got from the film that apparently no one else did is that Tom Dulce's acting (not just the famous laugh) seems intentionally fake and irreverent, like he was the only one not acting in a period film...
positive · AI labelView post →The theatrical cut of AMADEUS (1984) is streaming on Tubi for free and it's a marvelous way to spend 3 hours. 🎥 #filmsky
neutral · AI labelView post →The film Amadeus came out in 1984, 228 years after the birth of its subject. If it were made today, it would be about composer Ferdinand Giorgetti.
neutral · AI labelView post →#Filmsky Music theorists were brought in to analyze the keystrokes of the actors in Amadeus and found them perfect in notes and even the touch. Details like this turn a film from classic to masterpiece. tinyurl.com/y5rd8e3h
neutral · AI labelView post →Hopefully going to be able to write about one of my favorite movies of all time. 4k restoration of the theatrical cut of AMADEUS will be out in February. I love this movie so much. 🎥 #filmsky

neutral · AI labelView post →As far as I’m concerned, you can just go ahead and add half an hour of Keith David to every movie. Amadeus? Needed some Keith David. The Virgin Spring? Keith David could spring out. Five Easy Pieces … of Keith David.
neutral · AI labelView post →Amadeus. The entire cast is muppets, except for Salieri, and he’s played by Brett Goldstein
neutral · AI labelView post →OTD 9/6/1984 Milos Forman's AMADEUS makes U.S. premiere in Los Angeles. Not stuffy biopic about classical music, but energetic, hilarious, gorgeous & wildly entertaining examination of Salieri's jealousy of Mozart's genius. F. Murray Abraham & Tom Hulce never better. Won 8 Oscars. #filmsky 📽
neutral · AI labelView post →33) Amadeus. This looks wonderful on the big screen and the restoration job is very well done. A terrific, terrific movie. Try and see it if you can!
positive · AI labelView post →A breathtaking work of art, a film that fuses grandeur with intimacy in ways rarely achieved on screen - Miloš Forman’s masterpiece AMADEUS, 180 mins director’s cut. 1080p w/ eng/pt-br subs: drive.google.com/drive/u/2/fo...

neutral · AI labelView post →I just rewatched Amadeus and holy moly that is a beautiful movie with brilliant performances by F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce but please know that last week I successfully introduced multiplication to my Grade 1/2 students so Milos Forman and I are currently tied for contributions to society.

unlabelledView post →Happy Birthday, Simon Callow! The 4K theatrical cut of AMADEUS was checked out to someone with impeccable taste (Callow played Schikaneder in the movie and Mozart onstage), so we're watching FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, instead.
unlabelledView post →Agreed about *They don't really care about us*, but *Man in the Mirror* is more personal. *Black or White* has a certain political slant, and *Earth Song* has a very direct message. Let's look at some other musicians who might have a claim to "most famous ever": Elvis was not really political - if anything he was pro-establishment. Mozart and Beethoven however were very political. Beethoven scratched out the dedication to Napoleon in the Eroica when Napoleon made himself an emperor.…

I got to review the 4K restorations of one of my favorite films of all time, AMADEUS (1984) , and it still rocks at 40. #filmsky elementsofmadness.com/2025/02/25/a...

unlabelledView post →Re-re-re-re-watched AMADEUS. Even better than I remembered. The editing - film and sound - is extraordinary and Abraham deserved his Oscar. A really fabulous, opulent production. As to truth? It’s a fantasy, very harsh on Salieri, but rightly shows Mozart as the voice of God. One of the great films.

Day #363 "Amadeus" (Miloš Forman/1984) One thing about me is I have a soft spot for the films of Miloš Forman, I love them. I still need to upgrade this one to 4K because it deserves it, gorgeous film! Check it out.

unlabelledView post →Amadeus is the first movie I recognized as a premium movie, like an Oscar type movie. I could feel the depth of the characters and the performances in ways I hadn't experienced from movies before. My kid self was floored.
unlabelledView post →The film "Amadeus" depicts the act of composition very accurately inasmuch as all composers have noodles in their brains that serve as the site for their creative process - mine are bucatini, which has its advantages and disadvantages

unlabelledView post →There’s a performance of his that wasn’t captured on film or video and it upsets me that I’ll never watch Tim Curry playing Mozart to Ian McKellen’s Salieri in Amadeus.
unlabelledView post →Very puzzled by the trailer for the new AMADEUS miniseries. The 1984 film is perfect and should be required viewing for everyone. That trailer looks like they are trying (and failing) to act out the movie (?). The film simply cannot be duplicated.

Amadeus is amazing, incredible performances, a delight to watch. Siller & Meara was fine. Only half a star more? What am I doing? #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday
