All Quiet on the Western Front
Paul Baumer and his friends Albert and Muller, egged on by romantic dreams of heroism, voluntarily enlist in the German army. Full of excitement and patriotic fervour, the boys enthusiastically march into a war they believe in. But once on the Western Front, they discover the soul-destroying horror of World War I. From TMDB

positive · AI labelView post →Lewis Milestone's ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (1930) screens today at Regal cinemas. A multiplex chain playing a powerful anti-war film during a stupid, unnecessary war is coincidental, but it sure feels prescient. Tix are $7.99. Catch this Oscar winner on the big screen if you can. #FilmSky

neutral · AI labelView post →All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) is now in the public domain. I guess I'm kind of biased, but I prefer the "international version" of the movie, which is basically a silent film with a recorded soundtrack of music and sound effects

neutral · AI labelView post →The 1930 "All Quiet on the Western Front" is long out of copyright and has an incredible trench assault scene, using hundreds of extras, so it actually looks like a battle, literally piling on top of each other and it's in English, go watch it youtu.be/wI5xaum_HlA?...

positive · AI labelView post →Was reminded of the existence of the 2022 All Quiet On The Western Front, which might be The Most Evil Movie of the 21st century. Paul’s meaningless death from the novel is replaced by a full blown Call of Duty action sequence that culminates with him literally being stabbed in the back.

neutral · AI labelView post →**Explanation:** Erich Maria Remarque was a German veteran of WW1, and the author of the **fantastic** novel All Quiet On The Western Front, which is about the pointlessness and deep damage that the war did to a generation of young men. Naturally, the Nazis regarded this popular work as unacceptable, since OBVIOUSLY the only problem with WW1 is that Germany lost (because it was stabbed in the back INTERNALLY by JEWS and LEFTISTS and PACIFISTS of course, not because of their own military…

unlabelledView post →**Explanation:** Depicted are two books from German veterans of the First World War - All Quiet On The Western Front, from Erich Maria Remarque, a military engineer; and Storm of Steel, from Ernst Junger, a stormtrooper (assault troop). Unironically, both are fascinating reads - All Quiet On The Western Front is a fiction novel, while Storm of Steel is a memoir. All Quiet On The Western Front was the voice of an entire generation, the 'lost generation' of the 1920s, who experienced the…
