30 Days of Night
This is the story of an isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. As the last rays of light fade, the town is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires bent on an uninterrupted orgy of destruction. Only the small town's husband-and-wife Sheriff team stand between the survivors and certain destruction. From TMDB

Check out my blog for my long form thoughts, as well. But this one has to have its fans, right? #horrosky #filmsky #moviesky

unlabelledView post →starring Josh Hartnett 🔥 what I love about this is the vampires are so evil. They play with their food. The “God? No god” line is iconic. love an isolated setting and the way blood looks in snow. #horror #filmsky My ★★★★½ review of 30 Days of Night on @letterboxd: boxd.it/8CVGTn
unlabelledView post →When I rented the 30 Days of Night movie back in the day, I remember watching it and thinking, "Weird choice to have the filming get darker and more murky as it goes on." Turned out my tv was dying.
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Day #68 "30 Days of Night" (David Slade/2007) A simple idea for a vampire story that, to my knowledge, has not been done before (well, besides the comic it is based on). Kicks all kinds of ass, worth your time to check it out!
unlabelledView post →We watched 30 Days of Night recently and got all the way to the climax of the movie before realising the film was supposed to be telling us what the vampires were saying to eachother.
unlabelledView post →I saw Nosferatu. I wish I’d rewatched 30 Days of Night instead. A weirdly stakes-less film. Formally beautiful but nevertheless vaguely unpleasant. I kept unfavorably comparing it to the 90s Dracula, which was just as much about style but managed to be much *much* more compelling.

The film treats the comic series as a storyboard, largely using it to create a live action version. The vampires are largely monsters in both. 🧛♀️🌄⚰️ #filmsky #booksky

The premise is genius, I adore the art design/makeup/FX of the vamps- it's so creepy and thoughtful- and the movie is just a super fun, bloody ball of carnage.
