28 Years Later
Directed by Danny Boyle
Twenty-eight years after the Rage virus outbreak, a heavily-defended island survives connected to the mainland by a single causeway. When one of the group leaves the island into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well. From TMDB

Don't believe those reviews that give this movie rating more than 4/10. They are paid reviews. There's no way that any normal, sane person would rate this movie more than 4. I watched 28 Days Later (first one) and 28 Weeks later (2nd one) and they were masterpieces in a zombie movies. They were brilliant. I would say, best zombie movies out there. So, I was looking forward for this third one, but trust me, it turns …

A beautiful film with a handful of odd choices. I was hesitant going into this film. On one hand, it was a mainstream zombie film with a big budget and a competent crew. But on the other hand, it was in a franchise I have never loved, and it was the start of a new trilogy. So, while I was confident that it would be a solid movie, I did not know if it would work for me personally or if it would feel like it could …

'28 Years Later' delivers a very good flick, I wouldn't rank it too far behind the (albeit superior) original in actuality. I admittedly did think it was going to be more in-your-face unsettling based on a trailer I saw, what with that terrifying (but great!) usage of Rudyard Kipling's "Boots". All the same, it is still unnerving in a good amount of patches; it's, for me, definitely the closest that these films have …

My last note about 28 Years Later and Bone Temple is that Ralph Fiennes can do anything. What an actor. Handsome and charismatic enough to anchor a movie like Quiz Show, doesn't mind doing a 10 minute cameo in things like Hurt Locker and stealing the show, and is absolutely fearless about his body.

I might well be the last American to see it in a movie theater but I was really blown away by 28 Years Later. Not perfect, but I respect that it's such a big swing in so many ways and as with the previous films in the series there were moments where I found it unaccountably moving. A Real Movie.
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 227 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 10, 2026. Method

neutral · AI labelView post →Ralph Fiennes says bold horror films like ‘SINNERS’ and ‘28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE’ are helping keep the genre alive. “I thought ‘Sinners’ was a wonderfully inventive film. You have to keep reinventing and discovering... otherwise, we’re quick to smell the cliché.”
neutral · AI labelView post →Dr. Ian Kelson from the '28 Years Later' films might be my favorite movie character from the last 25 years. It's a huge task to portray the embodiment of the sort of selfless humanism that gives hope in a hopeless situation, but Ralph Fiennes breathes absolute life into him.

neutral · AI labelView post →28 YEARS LATER absolutely rips. It’s a surprising twisty bit of heartfelt genre storytelling. My review via @ebertvoices.bsky.social.
positive · AI labelView post →New post! I explore the cultural shift from the post-apocalyptic to folk horror trends over the last 20 years and how this shift reflects changing attitudes toward social upheaval. One dark desire underpins both genres: accelerationism. 28 Years Later is a film that captures our historical moment.

neutral · AI labelView post →Hey I just need y'all to know that I'm still pissed about how hard we failed 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE. Movie rips, is directed by an exciting director, and continues a story everyone was hot on when it was two dudes running the show. Mad as hell.
positive · AI labelView post →My main takeaway from 28 Years Later is that I could watch a film entirely consisting of post-apocalyptic Britain with a banging soundtrack very easily and I get annoyed when plot gets in the way
