unlabelledView post →Today I learnt about the actual, canonical sequel to 101 Dalmatians. Every single paragraph of the synopsis makes me feel like I've lost my mind a little bit more. I am so sad that this never got a film adaptation.

unlabelledView post →They don't tell you this in the movie, but Roger from 101 Dalmatians actually writes a mean song about every one of Anita's friends who comes to visit
unlabelledView post →Interestingly enough, 101 Dalmatians was [the first Disney film to adopt the process of Xeroxing the animators' drawings directly to cels](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/how-one-hundred-and-one-dalmatians-saved-disney-180977869/), rather than hand-tracing them. It's still a beautiful movie of course, but it's also an advance in animation technology that often gets over-looked!

My perceptions of London were largely formed by this movie, which portrayed a quiet, tranquil, and walkable city. As an adult, my childhood wonderment has been shattered by cars ruining cities.
unlabelledView post →I always found the animated 101 Dalmatians boring growing up, and I don't remember why. Perfect excuse to re-watch the movie
unlabelledView post →Born 11 Jan 1930, Australian actor Rod Taylor is best remembered for his roles in films such as Time Machine, The Birds, and Zabriskie Point. He also voiced Pongo in the 1961 film 101 Dalmatians. His final film role was as Winston Churchill in Inglourious Basterds. #RodTaylor
unlabelledView post →One of the best things about my childhood media consumption was consuming everything in the wrong format like I read Dune, not the Herbert book, but a children's book with screenshots and descriptions of the David Lynch movie. I listened to 101 Dalmatians on a record. Not the songs the whole movie
unlabelledView post →My 3YO calls the movie 101 Dalmatians “One Hundred of Dogs.” Tonight he said he saw a trailer for the sequel, 102 Dalmatians, except he called it “One Hundred of Two Dogs.”
unlabelledView post →Take the wrong lesson from a movie: 101 Dalmatians: it is perfectly reasonable to keep over 100 large dogs in a London terrace house

unlabelledView post →101 Dalmatians is my favorite Disney animated movie. It also played a part in sending me on the path that led me to become veggie and then vegan. The animation is just sublime. I want to live in it! This is my reinterpretation of a still from the movie Watercolour+ fine liner #watercolour #art

It used minimal vfx/ CGI for the animals BUT was 98% live action or used puppets and practical effects when possible. (I haven't seen Maleficent, don't come at me)
unlabelledView post →A shout out to authoress Dodie Smith who looked at a dalmatian puppy in 1956 and proceeded to write a fucking nightmare scenario where someone skins and wears puppies which was then adapted into a beloved (???) children's movie in '61, 101 Dalmatians.
unlabelledView post →"You said your movie would have 101 Dalmatians, but there were only five dogs in the whole film." "Oh I'm sorry for the confusion, but the title is in binary."
unlabelledView post →Went to 101 Dalmatians at El Capitan. Very charming movie. In an age of Save the Cat script doctors, I admire that it makes some truly weird choices like spending ten minutes simply depicting the dog version of the telephone. But there were no bunnies so I give it a 0/10
unlabelledView post →Have some concept art from 101 Dalmatians by Walt Peregoy. The look of the film is still one of my favorites in animation and I really adore how Peregoy and Ken Anderson designed a lovely looking film.
unlabelledView post →I use barq! sadly it isn't terribly effective because there's way too much friction when it comes to local interaction two people have to like each other first before they can even say hi? that's like .. literally the opposite of how meeting people works though??????? that isn't to say that DMs should be unlocked but rather that there oughtta be a localized/proximity public channel where you can just sorta microblog to the void and others who are nearby enough to see it can comment. i'd…

unlabelledView post →Watched the 1961 101 Dalmatians for the first time. Why did no-one tell me how good this was? Free from the racism of the original book, full of a beautifully stark sense of winter. It’s even works as a Christmas film. How did I not know any of this?

unlabelledView post →Fun fact: 101 Dalmatians was the first Disney movie to be produced with the help of xerox. This was as a result of the financial flop that was Sleeping Beauty, that almost bankrupted the company and cut their budgets for future movies all the way from the 60s to the financial success of the little mermaid in 1989. This is why Disney movies within that time period has a rougher look when it comes to the characters' lineart and the more simple backgrounds compared to the very detailed, painted…
unlabelledView post →I just recently rewatched 101 Dalmatians and actually cried multiple times just from really soaking it in. Just the way _so much_ of it comes to life. The imperfections genuinely make it feel so much more alive. Modern Hollywood animation is incredibly sterile and perfected. A major studio now would never imagine releasing something with visible sketch lines.

Actually this movie is credited with sparking interest in saving railroad history. This film is highly recommended for the rail fans out there.

unlabelledView post →Someone fell asleep during my favourite movie, 101 Dalmatians.
unlabelledView post →I think about that opening scene with the people walking their dogs a lot. 101 Dalmatians was such a beautiful and visually unique movie, I only learned much later that a lot of that was to save production expenses.
unlabelledView post →That'd be my 1st film memory overall, actually. I don't know/think that it was part of an officially sanctioned reissue or whatnot, but it was the animated 101 Dalmatians film. & I was in AWE. I remember being astonished seeing all the puppies running through Cruella's mansion. That was the start.
unlabelledView post →I don't count this as a remake cause it's just a movie with Cruella and not a remake of 101 Dalmatians. That out of the way, this movie is like leaps and bounds better than like 99% of live-action films to come out of Walt Disney Pictures. It's well directed, stylish, and just pure fun. Love it!

She was Sister Mary Lazarus in the comedy Sister Act and Sister Act 2.
unlabelledView post →Very true. My childhood movie watching consisted of whatever used VHS tapes we found at garage sales or not-Blockbuster rental stores. The Disney movies I watched on repeat were like The Fox and The Hound, The Rescuers Down Under, and 101 Dalmatians. Everthing else was non-Disney and NOT a classic.
unlabelledView post →The look is really the only thing 101 Dalmatians has going for it, but WHAT a look. Also, Disney's use of Xerox never looked this good again, just because the design of everything in the film was tailored to match that scratchy, pen & ink style. Later films would just get ugly and dismal with it.
